If the comments are enabled on your video's share link, anyone with access to it can leave comments, whether they have a PlayPlay account or not. Commentators can add timestamps to give contextualized feedback on the video they are reviewing.
For example, if your colleague spotted a typo in your video, he can leave a comment at the exact moment he noticed the typo. The timestamp in the comment is a hyperlink, so you can click on it and be automatically redirected to the referred moment in the video. Once you've corrected the typo, you can resolve the comment.
1. Add a timestamped comment
On the share link of the video, the commentator has two ways to leave a timestamped comment:
1️⃣ They can play the video, pause it where they want to leave a comment and click on the clock button. The timestamp will be automatically added as text and they can write their comment before clicking on Add.
2️⃣ They can also manually write the timestamp.
Once they post their comment, the timestamps written become hyperlinks (turn blue). Clicking on the timestamp allows the viewer to navigate to the corresponding moment in the video.
The creator of the project is notified when someone has commented on their video.
2. Resolve a timestamped comment
The creator of the project or any member of his team on PlayPlay can resolve and re-open comments by using the checkmark button that appears when hovering over posted comments.
-
We support two formats of timestamps:
-
mm:ss - for example, 00:12 to indicate 12 seconds.
-
hh:mm:ss - for example, 01:01:00 to indicate 1 hour and 1 minute.
-
Any other format typed in will not be detected as a timestamp.
-
Timestamps can be added and removed from already posted comments by editing their comment.
By right-clicking on the timestamp hyperlinks, a user can obtain the URL referring to that specific moment of the video and share it outside of PlayPlay, redirecting people to that exact moment of the video.
