How do roles work?

You can use the subtitle editor to define the exact moment when your subtitles will be displayed on the video.

You must first have written subtitles or added automatic subtitles.

Then, choose when your subtitles will appear:

  • Go to the Subtitles tab of the screen.

  • Define the exact time of appearance and disappearance of the subtitles:

    • by changing the start and end time codes above each block.

or

    • using the player sliders below the preview.

Note: You can also go directly to the main timeline to precisely adjust their timing by clicking "Open timeline".

  • Be careful: changes will not be taken into account if the timing chosen overlaps with that of another subtitle. When you change the timing of a subtitle, make sure that the previous or next subtitle allows it.

Example: a first subtitle is displayed from 00:00s to 04:00s and the next one is displayed from 04:00s to 08:00s. If you want to extend the first subtitle to 06:00s, you must first change the next subtitle and make it start at 06:00s.
