B-rolls are sequences inserted into your interviews to add rhythm to the editing and visually illustrate what the interviewee is saying. For example:
photos or videos of people, places, or events mentioned in the interview
a different shot of your interview: a close-up, a shot of the hands, the interviewee at work...
💡 Here is an example to help you understand what a B-roll is.
To add a B-roll to your PlayPlay video:
- Add a "Subtitles" (Interview & Quotes category) screen and insert a video media (your interview) into it.
- Then go to the "B-rolls" tab and drag one or several photos or video(s) into the dedicated fields.
Like for other types of media, a window for setting up your cutaway shot opens automatically. You can then crop, trim or add a filter to your media.
-
Save and you're done! Your cutaway shot is automatically added at the beginning of the screen.
If you wish, you can then choose the time of appearance or the duration of your B-roll with the editor.
It is only possible to add cutaways to the "Subtitles" screens.
In the same Subtitles screen, it is possible to add up to 10 B-rolls and add subtitles on top of them.
If your B-roll is a video, it will not be possible to hear its sound. The sound of your main media (the interview) will continue to play over it.
-
It is not possible to add a B-roll if the main media in your Subtitles screen is an image.
You can replace the main media in your Subtitles screen without losing your B-roll. They’ll be kept exactly as they are.
